Feng Shui Clutter Clearing Day 1 - Couch

I've been clutter clearing lately and after hauling off gobs of stuff; I decided to start documenting it. Our puppy, Buffy, ate a hole in the couch and now it's waiting for pickup on Monday. I frugally rearranged the living room using furniture that we already owned; it looks great. It was nice to use orphan chairs and tables; I'm not sure how I ended up with so much stored furniture.

The demise of our latest couch got me to thinking about our couch history.

#1 - A free couch that had been used as a scratching post. The fabric was medium grey, nubbbly with a slightly oily feel; no one would sit on it. Guests would cruise past to sit at the kitchen dinette. I shared the flat with 3 guys and numerous mice; the mice didn't want to sit on the couch either.

#2 - A garage sale wood framed beast that I painted and recovered; it looked like cabin furniture from the 1950s. One day a spring went through the cushion and it vanished in the middle of the night.

#3 - A blue plaid couch and loveseat from Slumberland; yes, I said blue plaid. I looked nice for about a year but it's best feature was that it was extremely inexpensive. The cost may have factored into it's longevity.

#4 - I was going down the escalator in Donaldson's and spotted a couch that took my breath away. I started going up the wrong way on the escalator just to get a better look at it's elegant lines. It was unbelievably comfortable, and the fabric was perfect. The loveseat was delightful but the couch was the perfect length for a nap and was more comfortable than my bed. Alas, it's gone now.

#5 - We fell in love with the fabric for 2 overstuffed chairs. One is covered in fuchsia tropical leaves and the other is a subtle vintage style palm tree pattern. We had the chairs made and bought a green couch that would go coordinate. The couch would have lasted a bit longer but puppies are tough on upholstery.
